Little Rock and Junior Programs

Inspiring a Love of Curling for the Next Generation

At the heart of our youth curling programs is one simple goal: to create a fun, positive, and memorable experience for every young participant. We want kids to love being on the ice, build friendships, and develop skills that go beyond curling — like teamwork, confidence, and good sportsmanship.

Thanks to the generous support of Marc Kennedy and the St. Albert Optimist Club, we now have Lite Rocks® and LR houses, making the game more accessible and enjoyable for our youngest curlers. Their contribution is helping us create an environment where every child, regardless of size or skill level, can jump in and experience success.

We offer a wide range of youth programs tailored to every level of curler — from first-timers to rising stars. Our Green, Blue, and Gold groups, along with STAJED for Success (St. Albert Junior Elite Development) and school-based initiatives, provide opportunities for growth, challenge, and, most importantly, fun.

We’re not just teaching curling — we’re building the future of the sport, one great experience at a time.

Youth Curler's Equipment Requirements

Curlers require curling shoes (alternative – CLEAN indoor runners), a broom, and warm, comfortable, stretchy clothing – preferably in layers.

ONE NEW GRIPPER provided for our Sunday Green and Blue program curlers.

Otherwise, it will be up to the individual player and their level of play as to any additional equipment they decide they need.  Curling equipment is available for sale at the club from our Pro Shop.

Join the Fun — Volunteer with Our Youth Curling Programs!

Our youth curling programs run on the energy, passion, and commitment of our amazing volunteers. Together with our General Manager and Certified Head Coach, volunteers help create an environment where kids can thrive — both on and off the ice.

We simply couldn’t offer these programs — or keep them affordable for families — without your support. That’s why we encourage every parent to get involved! Whether you're helping out on the ice, organizing team events, or cheering from the sidelines, you’ll be part of a welcoming, fun, and rewarding community.

No experience? No problem! We’ll provide training at the start of the season — plus grippers for those joining us on the ice.

🚨 Important: To ensure safety and support, one parent per team is required to be on the ice each week. Your involvement helps make the experience better for everyone — especially the kids.

Ready to jump in? So are we!

🥌 Sunday Youth Curling Programs

Where fun meets fundamentals!
Our Sunday youth programs are all about getting kids excited about curling while learning the game’s skills and etiquette in a welcoming, team-focused environment. With support from qualified coaches and awesome parent volunteers, kids will learn through play using both regular and Lite Rocks®.

Note: All Green and Blue teams require one parent on the ice each week as a team coach. Don’t worry — we’ve got your back! A free parent clinic (yes, with pizza and a beverage 🍕🥤) will get you up to speed. No experience needed, just a good attitude and clean shoes!
